Doesn’t get much better than that! A Corvette with a pruned, Scott injected 4-71 and a Tom Beatty v-belt drive.

Which brings up something I've yet to get an answer on.
I think Pete Robinson and George Montgomery pruned 6-71's before they started casting their own cases, my question is; those 4-71's (and 6-71's) always look perfect as if they were cast "pruned", were there any dedicated 471's cast that way.
I know when they are polished they can be easily blended but I seem to remember seeing some that weren't polished and looked as cast.

Well these are only my thoughts, not backed up by any factual information whatsoever.
I think Beatty might have been the first to prune a case but for sure there were many that followed. Once a case had everything cut off that didn’t belong there I imagine it could be sandblasted with an aggressive grit to give it a nice uniform appearance.
Pete Robinson collaborated with Ohio George on blowers and drives and IIRC Pete had the cases cast with George doing the machine work. For sure they did mag but maybe some aluminum too.
To my knowledge there were no aftermarket 4-71 cases cast, either stock appearance or pruned.

  22. That's one of Tom Beatty's 8 belt drives. He made those in the late 40's/early 50's before Gilmer belts. It took that many V belts to drive an over driven blower without slippage. Problem with them was you had to have 8 matched belts, or it didn't work. I think Barney Navarro may have done a pruned blower case before Tom. They had to be bolted to the manifold prior to assembling the rotors in the case, so the entire blower had to be dis assembled to remove it.

I can say for sure that Detroit diesel never produced a pruned style case such like their v series engines and I do not know of nor ever seen a 4-71 case like that in the aftermarket I have one of those Beatty drives even ran it for a bit on my willys god it was kool but I couldn't keep belts on it mainly cause you can't buy a matched set of 8 belts anymore
