Picked up this 59 Merc yesterday. Its rough, BUT is complete, has a title, and the price was very good. I am looking for the best places to buy parts for it. The first thing I need is an ignition switch w/key and a good wiring diagram. Where is the best place to buy parts? Macs? eBay? It will need a windshield, but cant find any under $600 shipped. Let me know below what you think. Eventually videos will be made on this car!

Bad part about replacing the windshield is finding the rubber for it. I have yet to find a new replacement for ours. As for other parts, Mac's has very few for these cars unless they cross to a more common Ford counterpart. Ebay has been a good place to find parts for me. I got a nos ignition switch from there as well as a few other parts. Depending on the condition of the wiring, may be a good idea to upgrade and wire the whole car. I have both the Service and Parts manuals if you have any questions or want any factory part numbers that could aid with finding what you need. I do have a Montclair parts car, but it is in bad shape. Sorry, the windshield is spoken for. Good luck.

I am really liking the tail lights on that 59'. It looks like a solid car. I have a few mercs myself. I found out quickly that parts are a bit harder to find but they are out there.

Great project! Finds like this are fun because it is not your usually make/model. I have no answers to any of your questions other than encouragement.

This will be a great project but challenging for sure.

I had a '59 Park Lane convertible in '65-67. I don't think I have ever seen another one since. that was one big car.

Great car!! Those big Merc's are fantastic.
Its going to be a challenge but it will sure be worth it in the end as they are such unusual cars with great lines.

    Good luck

Well, it's pretty rotten. It would depend I suppose on what you're looking for. Feel free to PM me with what you need or with pics.

@big M can probably help you locate a few parts. ;)

To be honest, $600 for a new windshield doesn't sound too far out of line. You might get lucky and find one for less, but I wouldn't expect it to be significantly less.

(PS - I'm assuming "new" means unused / NORS, and not just a used windshield.)
