How about "'Cuda Been Plan III" or "'Cuda Been Funny"?

  2. My cousin bought one of those things new. I never cared for the look of them but that stretched front end and AWB really makes a sleek looking ride. They should have designed them like that from the factory.

Sounds like a JW ultra bell is what you need.

I've been around early A body Mopars for years, and that is the cleanest floorpan I've ever seen. That will be an easy sell.

Yup, this one is not a flopper.

  10. Jim, the reason I asked is that I just put gas springs on my OT (1970) funny car to help lift the body, I have extra springs.

Maybe the next one will need them :)

I was able to get the build sheet out of the rear seat cushion. Not that any of it matters, with this build!

    but I like the history...

The way you actually make stuff reliable and roadworthy is what gets me, i can't keep shit running consistently. I can't wait to see this.

So when i saw your Chevy II down the street from me in Chandler last week or so did it drive there on it's own or was it carried? That's a long way from Sierra Vista

Let's see...when I was in Chandler, that was the weekend of the Good guys show, I drove the car up to Apache Junction, then over to Chandler, then up to Scottsdale, then stayed there a couple days...then drove down to Chandler for the night, then back home to Sierra Vista. A typical little 500 mile trip.

Then last week, I hauled it up to Phoenix, dropped it off at the Auto Show, and picked up the Barracuda in Apache Junction on the way home. Then got a ride up to Chandler, and drove the Chevy II home Sunday night.

Yes, I plan to stretch the front fenders and hood. But make them of fiberglass, to make it light.

And build a whole new chassis, I'll only be using the roof, quarters, rockers, and rear panel.

  23. Jim, Sounds like you want to use a T400 with adapter.
    High gears, big cubes?
I've got a couple of big inch Tempests out there with our 245 mm converter and a PG. They'll run 8.80's as AFX /NSS cars. Somewhat heavier than what you're talking about ,I would think. Not street cars of course, but not high rev-ers either.

Jim I like what you have planned when I built my 64 dart afx that you blew off the street in Joplin with your 55 lol I moved the rear axle forward 12" and the front 6 and it was just the right look I I'm sure you will figure out the best amount to move it but just thought you might want to know here is a side pic of

  25. I am confident that Lexan/polycarbonate can be thermoformed. If you decide that you'd like to pursue making a new back glass, let me know. I have made thermoforming molds for myself and other companies. Also a local here has a thermoforning shop with large x large capacity, I'd think that a back glass would fit on his machine easily. He also has a 5 axis router vs my 3 axis if you wanted it trimmed out as well.

I'm still up in the air about the transmission. A Torqueflite would be really neat, I need to talk to a few guys about them. A clutch/Lenco would also be really neat, it is possible to make it work....but it's a bit modern for the car, I think. A TH400 is the easy way out, I'd like to figure out something else, but it's good to have as the back up plan.

I was looking at the back glass tonight, and it might be able to curve without having to thermoform it. The radius is pretty big, and I held a piece of 1/8" Lexan over it, it does not take much force to make it follow the curve. But I'll keep you in mind.

The big Mopars with the rear end scooted over a foot forward do look wicked, but they also tend to drag the bumper all the way down the track...not quite what I have in mind :)

Clutch Turbo 400's are hot again, a little more period compatible then Lencos.

Out of all the names on this thread I like this one the most. Here's some I came up with but I don't think they'll top yours.

    Who's Laughing
Hooking up.( that's what I would have went with to go with the Barracuda concept I drew)
