K&G Speed Associates from Havertown, Pa is still around and going strong. This is actually their 50th year in business. You may remember such famous NHRA characters as: "Jungle Jim" LibermaN "Jungle Pam" "The Frantic Ford" Engine's by Radar All of these were sponsored or created at our little K&G Speed Shop here in Havertown, Pa. The Salem Speed Shop in Salem, OR had a fire today. A motor home was burnt bad and the side attached shed had some burn marks on the upper rafters. The shop as a whole looks ok and probably didn't have much if any damage. The fire department had to rip off the shop garage door to get inside to put out the fire, other than that, that might be the only damage to the shop it's self. The side building may have more damage. I was driving by and noticed all the fire trucks around. They had the fire out when I was there, but they were still searching around to make sure it was totally out. Thankfully the fire department is only two blocks away! My perspective was from the sidewalk. I wasn't able to get in there and see up close, but I do believe it will live and for the most part everything is ok.
Roto Faze Ignitions and Equipment had a booth at the first SEMA show at Dodger Stadium 51 years ago. They just went through a dual coil distributor for me. Joe Panik and John his Nephew are still running the shop,cannot say enough about these good people!
I made my first purchase from Winner's Circle in Joliet, Illinois in 1973 and they're still doing it today, in the same basic spot. I've been treated like a fool by the owner and have been treated like a valued customer by the same fellow. I still go in on occasion.
Sontag Speed Supplies in Cresthill (Joliet) Illinois is another that's been going since the late '60s. Bill Sontag sponsored many cars and raced various versions of his own "Turncoat" Cougar funny car.
J&M Speed Center, Riverside, CA established 1957 and still in business. Bought a set of headers and other goodies from them in 1970 for my '65 Falcon 2 dr. wagon. Great place to deal with, much better than then San Bernardino Racing, later to become the Supershops IMO.
I guess Fagen's in Danville ,Illinois is still around I went there in the early 60's for stuff when I lived in Champaign,Illinois.
