Here's one from Kansas! As seen at last years "Hot Rod Hill Climb" in Georgetown, Co. Ed drove this from the middle of Kansas to the hill climb. Then down into New Mexico and by the time he and his wife got back it was like a 3000 mile trip. He's not afraid to drive them! ed\'s tub 1.jpg ed\'s tub 2.jpg

This one was picked up a couple months ago by a friend of mine after a 35 year slumber. 2" chop other then that it's all stock. I believe this will be next year's project.

    hello,
back in the 70's, i took this photo of lee hammock's beautiful phaeton in front of the stowe house in goleta, ca. it was featured in street rodder mag. a great guy named "big hearted ken" made the custom carson top that fit like a dream. upload_2016-7-11_9-11-16.png a lot of craftsmanship went into this beautiful car.
    ahhh...the good old days... enjoy,

here are a few from 1973.
this is Lee Hamock's '34 from Santa Barbara.

these are from the Santa Barbara club oldies with goodies(I think that was their name) closed car camp out 1973.

    hello,
i stand corrected, it was lee hammock's phaeton from santa barbara...nick macaluso had a 40 ford sedan delivery...this old age crs is getting to me...
sorry for the mis label...big hearted ken still made the carson top. i do not know how he did it as he always wore glasses that had two different color lenses. but he was a skilled craftsman. thanks cnd for pointing out that it is the same car...lee hammock's phaeton.

back in the 80s I built a Wescott bodied '32 phaeton, TCI frame, small block automatic. Had a great interior with four bucket seats, chopped lift off carson top with alum frame, and the hood was steel Rotlieb and louvered in vertical rows on the side panels. It was root beer colored when I sold it to pay for daughter's sophomore year in college. Supposedly it went to Maine. Will have to see if I can scan a photo. Just curious, as we all are, as to what it looks like today and where it is.

I was not trying to stir up anything. I think at that time there was another '34 tub that was close to Lee's in color but with different wheels.
in this shot is Lee with his wife on the left.,

    hello cnd,
you have some great shots of a 34 that you say is lee hammock's car. it could have been because, rodders always find a way to change the look to make a different statement for the time. no problem about the mistake, but we went up to goleta to meet big hearted ken and lee hammock back then to shoot the phaeton and get some facts for the story i was going to write. after a whole day of photos, driving around and talking, big hearted ken gave us a treat by taking us to sam foose's house for a visit. i was impressed...to say the least. there was some little guy running around that we all know nowadays... there were some ideas that popped up during this photo shoot. i was told by the editors that i needed action shots of the cars from right to left with the car in clear focus and the background blurry. i had my wife drive our 72 el camino with me in the back taking action shots with so much clarity and focus that i started a trend. from that point on, i always used the back of the el camino for any action shots. by the way. our friend pat g. had this to say recently: "...You took the cover photo (Lee Hammock's yellow '34 Phaeton) of the first issue of Street Rodder I worked on...." that was waaaay back then...
    thanks,

    Hello,

This 32 Ford Phaeton was one of the best in So Cal back in the 70’s. I am sure the owner, Jim Lattin, still owns it. He is quite the collector. I lost touch in the long years since, but this photo was/is still one of my favorites, showing such fine craftsmanship and style. (it is also a very rare car) The stance, the look and accessories all made it one of the best. The photo shoot location was not bad, either…but it was very cold…
    Thanks,
    Jnaki shot with a 2.25 x 2.25 camera

I'm thinking about letting the rpu go in favor of a Phaeton, so how about a bump for 2018

Your RPU looks so good, it makes me think you could just swap a Phaeton body over to the chassis and call it done!
