You can always count on HAMBers to know the deal... Never fails.

Yeah the doors are from a donor post top Cat. That gives you about an extra foot of room to let passengers in and out. It also gives you good proportions.

Now requesting surfboard donations....hahaha... Turns out surfboards don't really go bad, so they hold their value!!! Hell I'd have more expense in a surfboard than I do in windows!

  7. I'm in the same boat as you, I'd like one or two surfboards, but the price is high on them. Lots of ways to make a fake one if you do a google search. I might give that a try.

If it was black you could rent it out to a funeral home. People would be able to see the whole coffin while it was in the procession.
    Very cool car:)

    Hahahahahaa...

That's funny because I bought this car after my wife poo-poo'ed the purchase of a black on black 56 Ford Wagon because it "looked like a hearse".

But yeah...it's got three full rows of seating and the two rear sets lay down...so.... Anybody want a surf themed funeral in the midwest?

In 1958 I had a '53 Plymouth with an Earl Schieb $19.95 paint job and rattle can scallops. Had HD rear suspension as I had a paper route out University Ave. to La Mesa and back in El Cajon Blvd. on the weekends. Monday through Friday, delivered papers to the MCRD and NTC.

So I talked about owning 18 used station wagons,my first being a 1957 Ford wagon, from there too a total of 18wagons ,not all Ford's. Some Merc. an 1 Chevy,1 Rambler, ending now with a Dodge Magnum wagon!
So my first post got deleted, must be cuz I actully added the year of very last wagon/in a thread asking about wagons, owned by those of us on the HAMB ,so about all my wagons . So now this re- post gets no photos an no years of each def. wagon other then the start.

  15. I never understood the surfboard on wagons/cars that are hundreds of miles from the ocean. HRP

  16. I think the reason is the same as the use of picnic baskets, old coolers, surfboards, etc. They use them as accessories, to get that nostalgia look. My Nomad and delivery, only hauls those things when I need them. Not a lot of extra room normally. Just haul them if I go to the Beach or camping, picnics, and Rod runs I also sleep in both of them a lot too. Ron...

I mean, there are no dry lakes in the Midwest either but people still chop tops and take fenders off their hot rods.

To me it's like Hawaiian shirts...I know a shit ton of people who wear them but I've never met an actual Hawaiian.

Idk...to each his own I guess.

My '46 Pontiac woodie with bamboo racks. People ask why the surfboard in Durango and I tell them it's really an early stand up paddle board that I use on the Animas river. And, they actually believed it!! BTW, I have over 75 Hawaiian shirts!

I got 2, a '65 Ford Country Sedan, and a stripper '65 Dodge Coronet. The Ford is a barn rescue out of Idaho...

    IMG_9190.jpg

...The Dodge is cool due to a killer flame paint job (artist unknown)...

The Ford is cool due to this (free PBR to ID the trans):

My 58 Bermuda 9 passenger, I'm doing a Mexican 1000 sort of build with it.

I've been gathering parts for a few years and am just about to get to building again, stalled out for awhile looking for parts.
