  3. That's a neat die. I've never seen it done with that one before. I seen people use a roller skate wheel on the bottom also.

Also got a little work done on the bead roller. I'm going to make a die holder then it will be all good.

Works good. An old man told me when I was 12 that there will always be a struggle between buying parts or tools. I probably should've but the money towards that car, but like you said free money. This is something I needed to finish the car to the level I want. I'm a one man show so the variable speed motor is key. You can turn it up on the straits and turn it down for the corners. Also it's nice that they have such a variety of dies. After I finish the wheelie bars and rear shocks all attention will be on the body and floor. I bought a steel floor but I'm most likely going to put in an aluminum one. It's all about time.

Hard to get any work done without tools.;)

  11. Something to think about here. A stock steel floor pan is a big shear panel offering a lot of strengh for not that much weight. Do you really want to give that up? Your car is not a tube frame chassis.

  13. The door slammer book which has been the chassis bible for years does not recomend cutting out the flooe for that reason. You dont have enough chassis in your car to remove it. After a few hits of the gas and you might be wondering why the body panels dont fit like they used to.

Are there different safety standards for stock vs. non stock floor pans ? Especially when a supercharger is involved (?)

Your right. It's the best thing to do at this point.

Not sure on the floor pans. I think there is for the firewall and separating the trunk from the interior if the battery is in the trunk

"Very" aware of the firewall ruling. I run a blower with alcohol which makes the tech guys nervous. But I also have a modified firewall tat uses aluminum so now I have to have a -15 fire-suit and enough safety stuff to run a BB/FC.

    Build looks good...

Not a bad thing to wear anyways. How fast did you go in that machine this year?

  19. Your 56 frame rails don't have much in the way of cross members, so the frame rails will shift back and forth, parallel to each other under regular driving, and worse when your on it. So yes, the steel floor helps some, however, K ing, V ing Y ing or X ing (triangulating) in some key areas will more than suffice. You can turn your rear upper shock mount into a K bar, as well as the factory rear cross member, and your front ladder bar mount. X your rear roll cage down bars, and run diagonal tubes up front from the "bumper bar" to the rails, etc. and you will greatly reduce "rail shifts". You can have your aluminum floor, without worry

  20. Check out my build pics Skairlane is all aluminum. The only sheetmetal left is the outer body everything else is gone. It shows on the scales to 2450 with me in the seat.

That's crazy I know I'm already way past that number. Have you noticed any body flex? Seems like all you have is front cross member trans, midplate, and a shock cross member?

I'm tore I would like to do an aluminum floor, but at this point I might just go with the steel one time is ticking and I need to get racing and have the car going before the wedding. I'll still have and aluminum firewall and trunk.

I put the bead roller together and made a die holder for it. I have the week off so hopefully I'll make some progress.

  26. Only thing I triangulated was the ladder bar crossmember. I haven't noticed a ton of bodyflex. I welded the seam on the stock rails to help a little also. The chassis works really well it 1.24-1.28 60' 99%of the time

Almost done with the wheelie bars.

I need a water jet. To make these brackets. Then I could speed things up.

Wheelie bars done. Wish I had a little more arch in them but they came out good. The picture makes them look flat.

Had a good week off. Finished the wheelie bars, made a new trans mount, and put a larger master cylinder in. I only got a few pictures I was so busy I'll take some more this week.
