In the absence of information to the contrary I want to pretend it's a Widgeon Seven like Bertie Wooster drove.

Nice job on the wheel. I'd like to see more pix of the car.
I see you are trimming the cockpit edge. Here is how I did mine and it has held up very well.

    This was my inspiration.

Coaming is what they call the cockpit surround padding. You see it on old planes as well as 1950's Ferrari Barchettas, Jaguar XK-120s, etc. I made mine with a fiberglass surround with polyethylene pipe insulation and then covered that with the grey headliner pad and finally covering material. 4 pieces stitched together for a continuous pad.
Fred, that's a very nice build blog of your cyclecar. Great details.

I don't want to derail this thread so if anyone has any questions or comments you can PM me.

Here is how I made my coaming. Fiberglass rim (white) with pipe insulation that is covered with headliner foam and then vinyl or leather. Velcro is used under the flange to attach and control tension on the fabric. Here is my test piece in vinyl. 4 pieces makes a continuous pad around the cockpit.

I didn't know that you are producing three wheelers in Alaska.

There is an unspoken contest here. Who can ride the earliest in the spring on 2 wheels and who rides the latest in the fall.Nobody knows who wins though.I've never seen this guy. I'm pretty sure he is south of Fairbanks. However, I knew a couple of BMW riders with sidecar rigs who rode them year 'round. I also see a couple of URAL riders with their sidecar rigs in the winter too. ...just not every day.

I'm not thrilled with laying mine down. The healing process would take too long these days.More importantly, I have absolutely nothing to prove.
