There was a thread on here awhile back about doing your own interior. Someone said they used a glue made by DAP and bought it at Home Depot. Does anyone remember what it was or what it was called? I lost a bunch of crap on my laptop and this was 1 of them.
It was DAP Weldwood. https://www.homedepot.com/p/DAP-Weldwood-32-fl-oz-Original-Contact-Cement-00272/100125525
The stuff that upholsters use is this: http://www.dap.com/dap-products-ph/weldwood-landau-top-trim-high-heat-resistant-contact-cement/ It is far less affected by heat (as in it doesn't fail when the interior gets hot) than the stuff you buy at Home Depot.
I have used both and the landau holds up better. you will most likely have to order online unless you have a upholstery supply outfit near you. Larry
I use the Landau glue also, it hold better that anything I have used in the past. I buy it by the gallon from an online supplier.
What does Graingers charge for it?. Last time I bought the Landau stuff at an upholstery supply place (Phoenix), it was 30 ish a gallon. Way more cost affective than spray cans For the record, I lost about 30 hours work because of the failure of 3m77 super spray to hold up in heat. The Weldwood Landau has never failed me. Cheap Harbor Freight spray gun with biggest nozzle available. May have to thin a tad (10% or less) to spray. Should be ok in the gun cup for at least a week...may have to add some more acetone if it sits too long.
It all depends on what you are using the Adhesive for! I swear by 3M 90 Spray Adhesive for almost every Upholstery Job I do. It was used on my current Build for Headliner Edges, Door Panels, Carpet. Off the shelf everywhere, including auto parts stores.
Sure does. Be sure to spray both surfaces. Let it tack-up, and apply. (If you let it dry to the touch, you'll need to respray or hit it with heat to reactivate the glue).
