IMG_5798.JPG I have been busy renovating my new old house but next up is my pole barn build and then Kustom time. Got out to the Detroit Road Devils gathering yesterday.

I am not completely sold on the wrap around rear window and I am considering using the coup window setup that I have. Just a thought.....

I think the wrap around back glass gives an extra touch of class if you can pull it off.

  12. Another vote to keep the wrap around. At least give it a chance with the window installed.

Not that it matters but I also vote for the wrap around.
When you get your Carson style top that will have a much smaller rear window so you will have the best of both.

The most unique (and brilliant) thing about this kustom is the lift-off Vicky top. Losing the wrap-around window would be a real shame...and destroy the very thing that makes it so special.

Since you asked..., I kind of like the rendition that Rik did with the sedan back window. Just my thoughts though.

If it was a done car I wouldn't have given it a second thought but if you are still at a point were it could go either way, I would go with the smaller window to minimize the amount of glass presented from the side and rear quarter view points. This would look and flow smoother to my eye and would lengthen the perceived length of the roof lines. The wrap-around window shortens the roof making it look small & taller (again, to my eye).

Great work so far. I envy your talent and either way you decide to go will not take away from the great custom you have created. I am a fan of the mid to early 50's customs and what came before them but kind of lost interest in what followed in the 60's. Things got way overdone for my taste. My screen saver includes cars like The Bettancourt 49 Merc, Nick Matranga's 40 Mercury, Don Carroll's 49 Ford (Gaylord's Custom), the Sam Barris Merc, and one of my current favorites is Royalshifter's (Skip) Vitoria's Secret 51 Ford. Yours may soon be added.

I am still neck deep in house renovations but my secret engine is ready to be picked up in Indiana and I am close to having my plans approved for my new 26'x40' workshop. Its almost time to wrap this up so I can get started on the next.

This has the potential of finishing up as one of the nicest Shoebox chops ever...No small feet!
    (Pun intended.)
