Hi guys, may have posted this before. I have a 302 sbf with a C6 behind it and a 168 tooth flex plate. It has the old cheese wedge inertia starter motor with 9 teeth, 2 bolt fitting. Which doesn't spin correctly. Not messing. Does anybody know of part number or supplier for a 11 tooth starter to fit this. Cheers in advance.

Unless you have a Chevrolet flex plate on there, it does not have 168-teeth.

It is either 157, or 164. I assume you mean 164.

When you say that it "doesn't spin correctly", could you elaborate?

Check your setup against the specifications in this document:

Its 168. Some 460s ran them and I think 68 Galaxy ran a small block with C6 and 168 teeth. Its a cock but will measure registry hole in the morning.

The only listings I have for flexplates for a 1968 Galaxie are 157, 164, and 184.

    I can only find a 164, and 184 listing for the 460.

Either way check your diagram. If this engine and transmission came from different sources, or you don't know its history, you could have the incorrect block plate, or a bellhousing/flexplate/blockplate mismatch.

This is an aftermarket block plate, capable of being used with either flywheel diameter, and either starter. It shows the offset between the two starters.
