Picking up new venture 3500 for great price, (new) wondered if anyone has used on street rod with 350-400 hp motor. Car will be about 2600 lbs. 4:10 gears. Will it hold up to reasonable thrashings, street tires.

You'll really have to baby it to hold up to that kind of power. They are more of a light pickup transmission and shift like one as well.

  3. Yep, those are only rated for 300 ft-lbs of torque, that's less than a T5. Won't take much of a beating....

  4. I could break one. If you drove it like a normal person it would hold up. You'd have to respect the limitations. Not nearly as strong as a T5, Muncie or T10.

  5. No clutch dumps, I now I rebuilt at least a dozen of them in brand new trucks in the 90's when I worked at a Chevy dealer. If you want to drive it hard, I would look elsewhere.

That trans came in 1/2 ton pickups and 4.3 S10s Replaced the T5 I have used three in previous builds. Including a turbo SBC with 475 hp/550 ftlb at the rear wheels not a problem. You dont have enough traction or weight to hurt it. They dont shift as fast as a T5 Nv3500 out of half tons use a turbo 400 size output yoke the s10s are th350 size.
