Technical Who is your go to chrome plater?

  1. I did too back in the 70's. They were good but man, oh man, were they ever slow!

  3. I used a plater in the early 80's out of central Pennsylvania that I thought was real good, Don's Plating. Fair prices, decent turn-around and top quality work. I'm still running his work on my Model A and it's been on the car since the early 80's.

  4. BTW,they did some beautiful BLACK chrome. HRP

  5. I get most of my normal chrome done at my home town shop in Bakersfield, AC plating. However for the Mysterion I had some specialty parts that NO ONE would handle (Plymouth headlight door) or wanted the national debt to do (6 Stromberg WW carbs, about $215 for all the parts on a carb vs. $600 at other shops ). Enter Custom Metal Finishing Indiana, LLC, 9705 State Road 38, Hagerstown, IN 47346. they agreed to tackle the headlight piece with its 3" deep internal surface and to do my carbs for 1/3 what other shops bid. The finished pieces are magnificent. I would recommend them for any really hard to chrome parts.

I agree with Oldmics. Librandi's did my Plymouth bumpers, and they're beautiful.

    Hey Denny:

I also like the look of satin nickel. Are you doing this yourself with one of those kits or your plater is doing it?

    Thanks,

    Tim

Ogden did some nice work for me.
Not the cheapest but not the most expensive either.

This is a partial sample of some parts they did for my RPU.
They are still working on my windshield posts and frame.

  13. This is California nothing good chrome wise, so it's finding good chrome on used parts. I would like to try chromeplaterjosh but shipping big parts sucks.

I live in the south of France and hard to find platers here but I did. Here is my '33 grille. Its a new repro and no rust or pits to deal with and I did all the metalwork(it was a blem and lumpy) incl polishing of the raw metal after picking, filing and and sanding finally with 220 grit.He charged me $236.

My Hot Rods don’t have chrome unless the part comes that way!
WAY to expensive up this neck of the woods and from what I’ve heard and seen chrome work that is done around here is pretty bad! :(

  19. Last lot of plating I had done was nickel. The parts were vapour blasted then nickel plated then very lightly vapour blasted again. Looks like old chrome

  21. Cool garage. I was over in Carcassonne last week with Citroeniste friends. They told me it is impossible to have a hot rod in France but I know that if you want it enough there are ways

I was a founding member of the French Street Rod Assoc in the early 90's. Quite a few Hot Rods but getting tougher to register them as they are modified vehicles.Had a deuce roadster in the early 90's when I first lived here and went to the Nationals in Knebworth in '92.Several deuce hi boys in Orange, full fendered deuce roadster in Uzes,32 3W near Arles and more etc.Next time if you are nearby look me up.

I've used Chromeplaterjosh. Fair price, good turn around time. Excellent craftsmanship.

I've been using Speed and Sport in Houston for a few years. No complaints about the quality and it's always back within a few weeks.
