Most red caps are MSD and billet aluminum body, looks like it is billet not cast. Look for numbers and marks on housing.

Nice big cap, good for high voltage unit. I'll bet a Pertronix unit will fit in it. I'm with Jim, SBC,BBC.

It is a Ford pickup coil, and they were used by MSD for years in most of their distributors.

I expect the chinese company that made it, just copied MSDs design for that.

The cap is not MSD, though, since it has clips. MSD tends to use screws on their caps.

What I meant about "it doesn't matter" who made it: what do you plan to do with it? If you are looking for replacement parts, I'd suggest a stock rebuilt points distributor would be better than trying to fix this one. If you want to sell it, take it to the swap meet and put a $10 or $20 price tag on it, or do the same on ebay if you're not going to be selling at a swap meet any time soon.

What does the bottom of the drive gear look like? Screwdriver slot or hex?

it has a flat tang inside the gear, since it's for a Chevy engine, not a Ford engine.
