Hope this '40 coupe hasn't been posted before now. If it has, oh well it is so kool it deserves a second posting. Has lived in Lacy Washington State for the past 25 years or so, was built by back in the 50's by a Tacoma Toppers member. I traced it down because I want it and it ain't for sale damn it. 40-3.png 40-5.jpg 40-6.jpg

  9. @34Larry that '40 is awesome. Is it still in that condition?

It made me think of this one that has been around this area for quite a while.

Looks like the Bernardo Bros must have lived next to a Home Depot! That's the last place I saw so many drawer pulls.

Hey straykat I'm feeling pretty damned good that you appreciate my posting of this truly great '40 and you also Sancho.
Yes Sancho in talking with the owner this car after traking it down, is in pretty much this condition. There is some cracking of body filler and the paint needs either redone or just buffed out. He has 3 other cars, all 32's and so this one doesn't get out to much, but he said it would get out soon when I spoke with him in August.
Straykat you in my opinion have posted one of the best, if not the best post ever, at least since I've been around HAMB. It is amazing what innovation and imagination has turned out in this field through the years.
On this coupe, I feel this is the finest 40 around, (granted I of course have little idea of what others are out there that I haven't seen). Believe when I say I'd trade my recently 34 that I really love also and some amount of negotiable cash in a heart beat for this beauty.
Straykat, I'll try include here what other pic's I have on file, but I have none of the SBC or of the interior. I'll call the owner and see if he will forward some that I will post if he will and I'm pretty sure he will, he seems like a real, real car guy on the phone and so nice.
I've promised to look him up, as he is only about 50 miles south of me, a 30 minute jaunt in my 34. That will have to be in the spring as we are headed south to Mesa Az. to our little seniors Roadhaven Seniors Resort quite soon.
Now for a couple of other pic's IF I can get them to load right.
So this one is the only one that I haven't loaded, enjoy.
Question for everyone who is interested: What reserve would you put on this at B J auction? Not that if it were mine I'd EVER part with it.

I remember that black 40. I totally fell in love with that car when I first saw it in about 1990 or so. Does it still have a god awful weird interior in it? (that was the only part I didn't like)

  14. From Jalopyrama last weekend.

  15. I don't know about the interior. I last saw it several years ago. I know it has been for sale a few times. Haven't seen or heard of it for a long time, don't know if it is still around Wichita or not...

I instantly thought of it though when Larry posted pics of the red one.

  16. That picture I posted was from 1998.
Here's one I found from 2001, so it got flames at some point.

I remember once seeing it at work in the parking lot. Late 90's I think, definitely prior to the flames. I think it was for sale at that point. I remember wishing I had the money.

    Thanks!

The paint job hints of "Modern Grecian"! influence.

Earlier this year, he had a major health issue. His buddy`s secretively painted it for him so he could take it to the CCR in Indy. It looks like it`s been lowered since then. I`m glad he made it to that show.

It's unusual to see a '59 Studebaker Lark Regal grille used in a custom, but there it is!

  21. Stewing on something here...I was wondering if anyone had any pics of shoebox Fords done with either 51 Stude or mid 50's Kaiser headlights and fender extensions, and what sort of grilles were used with them??
Like Weesner's Ford but with the headlight rings intact??

For those who are curious, those are '52 Stude headlight rings. The various '50 and '51 rings have round parking light lenses.

In my opinion, Buster Litton's Ford is one of the nicest shoeboxes ever built! It will always be one of my favorites! E

I remember the Kopper Kart being parked outside a restaurant of the same name in Las Vegas eight or ten years ago. Could of been a clone.

The original is no longer with us. (Do I recall a pic of the cab in a field?)
The clone is amazing, however, right down to the Corvette 3x1 intake on the Blue Flame 6!
