VINITA, Okla. - Oklahoma's biggest McDonald's--and at one time the largest in the world--will be shutting its doors, but just temporarily. The Vinita Service Plaza over Interstate-44 is now 56 years old. Officials with the Oklahoma Turnpike Authority say it's time for a makeover.Mar 26, 2013

    Hello,
Several years ago, we drove back to Oklahoma to see the old family houses and schools. After a couple of days, it was on to St. Louis, farther east to the Chesapeake and up to Maine on our cross country vacation. On the way to St. Louis, we needed a snack and saw this huge thing across the freeway (Interstate).

The usual pit stop timing plus, we had the famous fries/drinks and were on our way. But, inside was huge and the service was ok. There were lots of people there as it was summer. It was interesting to sit there for a second and look out onto the cars whizzing below.

Back in So Cal, we went to a big mall that had a major highway run underneath a portion of the department stores, but a major interstate under a McDonalds?

What you see in a cross county drive is interesting to say the least.

    Pinstriping by L......something

  4. I'd say that if he was wearing different clothes and sporting a top hat you'd probably recognize him as "Big Daddy Roth," as that's his shop truck. The "L" you see is part of his phone exchange number.

Look at all those shiny wheel covers! Hope it didn't rain the day of the picture, most of them would be rusty the next day!!
