can anybody direct me to a shop that know how to ream spindle bushings for new kingpins? I went to a shop after work and they wanted 240-250 to install the bushings and ream them to fit my new kingpins. I think that is VERY high. 2nd shop said they have never done it before. When I got home I went ahead and drove in the new bushings so they just need to be reamed now to fit my kingpins. Any help appreciated. I live in Waterford if that matters.

You need to take them to a front end shop not a machine shop. Find one that has been there for a while.

You can buy an adjustable reamer and do it yourself, taking small cuts until you get a nice fit. Wholesale tool would be one possibility. Should be less than $100 for the size span you need.

I do not know of any front end shops around here. I tried a frame and wheel place and they were hesitant. Has to be a shop around here that knows what they are doing. Also I would like this done in a timely matter as the truck is sitting on Jack stands in front of my garage and I need to get my other car out. Lol.

You might try a shop that rebuilds engines. They should have a wrist pin honing machine. This type of machine produces a very tight tolerance, so they should be able to give you a nice fit (actually better than reaming). Make sure you take a king pin along for them, so they can check the fit.

Going tomorrow to an engine shop that sleeved my flathead a few years ago. If they can't do it I am buying the damn tool myself.

How far are you from Allen Park? there is a Techshop there.....it is a machine shop hobby place where you can go and rent the tools and equipment to do jobs. I am a life member of them and have used the one in San Francisco......phone them and see if they have a ream set and possibly someone who can help........might lead to a cheap fix.

and they are open 9 am to midnight most days

What ever happened on this? Did you find a place or did you do it yourself?
