I need pics of the head liner around the back window of a stock 1940 Willys coupe. I have know idea as to how the area around the window was put together. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for the pic's. Yes hard to see with black upholstery. The further I get into this, the more I don't get. How is the head liner go over the doors. There must be wind lace???But how is the head liner attach to the door header?? Also there must be two card board pieces the are on the sides of the rear windows. Any help is appreciated.

PS. I see that 40 Ford Coupes have a thin strip of tuck metal on the door header to tuck the head liner under. I don't see that 40 Willys did the same.

You need metal rods that go from passenger to drivers side roof, they get sewn to the headliner to keep the shape. Sheet screw them to the pillar metal.

Yes I have the top bows. I just am having a problem with how the head liner fits around the back windows. Also above the doors.

From tearing apart a lot of sedans and coupes I have always seen a flammable rope that is kind of tucked up in that slot around the A-B pillar and I have always assumed that the headliner gets nailed to it?

Yes you are correct. That is the take strip all around the door opening.. But..usually the wind lace goes on first. Then the head liner. You just can't put staples on the head liner they would show over the door. I need some good pics of the wind lace and head liner over the doors to see how it was done. I think I have the idea has to the back windows upholstery goes. If some one has an original 39-40 Coupe . I would love some pics . Thank you guys for your response.

  17. Over each door is a metal strip that has jagged teeth that fits into the headliner material and tucks it down behind the windlace. Not sure how, but it holds the headliner tight. I have a picture, but I am not home until the next weekend.

elgringo71. Could you please get me some pictures of the head liner over the doors. I need to get information on how the headliner is attached. Is there a method of how the headliner was attached. Thank you
