I just returned from a service for a good friend who I first met 45 years ago when I joined our car club. Gene known to most of us as a wonderful artist, great story teller, owner of some very cool rides and a man that I can never remember not having a smile on his face.
Before settling here in Rochester, Gene grew up in Pennsylvania where many of the car related stories he wrote about and shared originated. His upbringing was also the influence for some of his art work like the prints he gave me that for years have been hung in my home. While in the Army he created military maps including ones that were updated daily during the Cuban missal crisis. He did packaging design artwork at Eastman Kodak and also created some of the original artwork for our Car Club that we used back in the 70's on our jackets, shirts and hats.
His cars were another wonderful expression of his artistic talent. His 58 Impala, 37 Ford Sedan, late 60's Chevy Pickup and more were all nice vehicles but what I remember most is the 32 Ford Coupe he has owned since he was 16 years old. The was Gene the Story Tellers car. His Grandson who spent many hours with his Grandfather working on the cars drove the 32 to the service today.
Rest in Peace Gene. Thank you for all the wonderful years of great stories and friendship.

    You're a good dad, Mark!
Nice that you picked up on that grille....inspired by a stained glass window of an old cathedral.
Yeah, I haven't used motor oil in a while, but I might go back to trans fluid, thinned with turp, and used as a translucent red glaze.
    Great stuff from everyone today!
