it was bought from eBay but i don't have link to that item available anymore. sorry. if i remember correctly, it was from -54 -- -56 Lincoln. not sure, what year. one incident during installation; last spark plug at driver side did not fit fixed using additional engine mounts to have additional half inch room to plug also raised rear of transmission with quarted of inch additional mount. hope this helps.
close, 54 with 53 bumpers, 56 Packard taillights, yes extended fenders, also narrowed 6" In the rear to give it a cris craft boat look and get rid of the flat sides.
Small amount of tin keeps You fresh all day long. Plenty of work to be done before it's totally ready..
Dean, hello I have a 53 Capri and am having a hard time registering it here in North Carolina, they are asking me to find the Vin Number which is stamped on the Frame, could you do me a favor and look at your frame and let me know where yours is stamped so I can try to identify mine? any help would be appreciated. your doing an outstanding job, and I will continue to follow. Hot Rod Lincolns #1
Vin # is on an Aluminum plate inside the forward side of right front door (between the hinges). It will have a # starting with 53..... On a side note, when you find it, if you PM me that number along with the number below it, I have the books to tell you where it was assembled, approximately when, & from the second # I can identify the original color & trim.
DrtrcrV-8, That’s the issue it has a vin number on the left side driver door and firewall, but the data plate on the right door is missing, that’s why I need to know a general idea where the vin is stamped on the frame Sent from my iPhone using H.A.M.B.
I never needed to look so I don't know the location(honestly, I never knew there was one stamped in the frame.) I'd suggest trying "the Road Race Lincoln Register" & ask them for any info they might have.
in frame, i found it at the TOP of frame. so it was not visible until body was taken off. if i remember correctly, it was quite near to that red-framed area in attached pic. naturally, now it is no longer visible, because frame was painted and all.. to have this registered here in Funland, i need to have VIN stamped to frame to some visible place! =) so i most likely will stamp it in frame vertical part close to rear axle or something. not sure yet
there it is, naturally my pic is taken so close, that this does not reveal location. sorry about that.
Some minor scraping and rubbing and stuff, before bottom is finished. Maybe "This side down" text is needed?
Love these cars! Can you give me a door length measurement? Maybe at the bottom edge and at the top. Thanks! Keep up the great work!
hi, hope this helps. 1st top outside 113cm / 2.54 = 44.488in 2nd middle outside 118cm/2.54 = 46,457in 3rd bottom outside 118cm/2.54 = 46,457in
How about leaving paint as is and just attach all shiny parts in it.... nooooooooo just kidding! =) happy 100y independence anniversary Finland <3
at least during summertime, there are lots of old American cars here. we have several nice happenings and here's some examples from one guys pic page: https://ata1.kuvat.fi/kuvat/2017/ cheers !
Really enjoyed reading through this build. I recently purchased a 54 Capri. I will get some pics this weekend. There has Been a lot of great information on this blog. Looking forward to seeing this finished. Mine has a 351 Cleveland transplanted, and the motor was converted to 12v. The first thing I tackled was rewiring / converting everything else to 12v. First on the list were the power window motors. I found that the 12v power window motors from a 1964 Ford thunderbird fit perfectly (of course everything will have to be rewired). I used modern relays working off the original switches. I just finished the under dash wiring to ignition switch, head lights, tail lights, and brake lights. I have no idea what I'm going to do for the gauges... any thoughts? Thanks again for the great blog on your rebuild!
