  16. Put a pair of LED strips between the deck lid skin and inner structure. Only tapped them into the brake lights. Can't see them at all until the brakes are applied. Yeah it's a bit modern/street roddy, but another attention getter for those behind me. KIMG0547.JPG

Pretty cool effect...I'm surprised back in the day no one thought of plumbing a light in the trunk or under the hood...I mean hey they had the Appleton's on the Customs...

Maybe some of the back in the day crowd may elude as a lot of stuff was lost and not noted or caught on film.

Never punched a louver in my life, so I'm not knocking anyone's work. Just wondering if the distortion on some of these louvers is caused by the curvature of the panel, or possibly the effect of inconsistent pressure on the punch.

I would suppose the curvature of the part may have a role in distortion. Flatter surfaces less, curved surfaces more. Other things that effect finish...tooling and technique.

Perhaps the Louversmiths may chime in and give a professional view on what we are seeing.

    Good question

  22. i did not notice it so much in person. maybe it is the cloud reflexions?

Here's mine going on my V8-Healey

Most later Healeys with a hood bulge just punch a straight line of louvers like this:

But I wanted something more like the early factory 100M cars:

Mine were punched by Roy Idman of Walpole, MA and the space between the louvers is for the leather hood strap. Roy's a real craftsman and done plenty of hot rods in the area. Great guy to work with.
