  2. I know it’s not an automobile. But even a mailbox can be artsy, no?[IMG]

Recent ideas from color patterns got me to thinking about silver flames. I was trying to outline silver flames on a toy model and screwed it up. I had never thought of silver flames on a hot rod or drawing. The real life-size hot rods that have it, look very cool.

But, on paper, silver looks like all shades of pencil. These flames are silver and the inside areas are different levels of pencil grade. I was drawing this outline when we had a visitor to our house this busy weekend.
    Flames:

    Hello,

Whenever we get a chance to influence the younger generation, we go for it. Our granddaughter knows I love cars and know quite a bit about them. She also knows that I love drawing flames. (Some red flames on her little white tennies at 2 years old did not go over too great with her parents…boo... But, she liked them !)

We have been doing all kinds of art, hot rods, flames, race cars, carriages, castles, fairies, etc. Sometimes, weird car-influenced drawings usually pop up in our activity. Writing in our journals, a drawing of a custom colored set of flames goes along with the 3 paragraph story on bats, halloween or mermaids. (How do flames and mermaids go together? Hey this is fantasy writing…)

She is either being kind or actually likes the hot rod related topics or drawings. This weekend, was one of those “spend time with the grandparents/sleepover days” and we had a ton of fun. Our assignment was to get out some old playdough and make an unusual creation. We have been playing with playdough since she was a couple of years old. Her parents like that WE do this at our house, so they do not have to spend time cleaning up after the extensive activity. (They are missing out for sure.)

So, out comes the basket and we all three start our creations. Our granddaughter was making a custom, three color layer set, of loaves of bread? My wife made a series of snakes and monsters from Harry Potter Films and a grouping of “eggheads” that portrayed what I look like to society. (long story)

I made a blob into fluorescent pink flames, on the table. It was time consuming, but fun to work with to erase any mistakes by just using our fingernails and thumbs. (prod and poke) My granddaughter’s reaction: to my wife: “Look, he is making flames, again…smirk.”

Being with our granddaughter never gets old, either does drawing or making flames out of anything.

This Age of Steam Roundhouse is right down the road from me in Sugarcreek, Ohio. It is privately owned housing old steam and diesel locomotives, passenger cars and other railroad equipment. The roundhouse was built by owner Jerry Joe Jacobson and completed in 2011. This is the first full-sized working roadhouse built in the United States since 1951. It is also now one of the largest heavy timber structures in the US. Unfortunately Jerry Joe Jacobson just passed away on September 13, 2017. This video is in honor of his dream.

    Hey Ron,
Nice old Ford ice cream truck...those are always fun to see. There was a newer ice cream truck (we saw when my granddaughter was 4) showing at the Newport Beach Fashion Island. Their ice cream was equal to Cold Stone Creamery...(there were even more people at the truck than at the Haagen Dazs store just down the row) It was on wheels with a cool, custom magenta flame pattern on a pearl white paint job, too.

    Yummy....it was.
