History #990 "Golden Rod" Streamliner ... PICS!!!

So... if the number of 990 was based on the dollars invested in 1952, and according to cpi inflation calendar, that would be 8702.92 in 2013. 200mph for less than 9K.Now there is a challenge...

 

I just stumbled upon @Joe Fontaine's H.A.M.B. album with some amazing photos of his old friend Tommy Thompson's #990 streamliner ... Enjoy!

Nice blurb in Lincoln paper. I went over with Don Walling, looked at car and heard them fire up the Ardun. Awesome sounding motor!

 

here are some more pic at that time when I work with Don Kehr we were racing f fords and supper V's and Can- Am at the time 77-80 the team was working out of my shop ( perpetual motion in Lincoln )

A friend of mine took me to see this car in the early '80's in Lincoln, when it was flathead powered, a fond memory for me.
