I think you would like 78 chevy Monte Carlo Tan,, they were two toned, one was Buckskin, they came from factory with a big loop in the side, they were light and dark tones of tan. Bob
Congrats to Mark on his win in the "Shelby's Hot Rod Round UP" for "Bringing Awareness to Suicide Prevention". The car speaks for itself....
Hello, Back in my photographic journalist days, I met a ton of super nice people. When I took photos of a yellow 34 Ford Phaeton in front of the Stowe House in Goleta, CA, the social connections went on to another hot rodder from the same area. Santa Barbara’s, Nick Macaluso owned a pool company and had a bevy of hot rods. The nicest ones were the yellow and black RPU and the light tan, 40 Ford Sedan Delivery. Since we had gone up to Santa Barbara for the RPU photo shoot later on, he decided to come down to Newport Beach for a vacation and photo shoot on his 40 Ford Sedan Delivery. I wanted an interesting background to suit the style and period of the sedan delivery. We started in the morning at a 40’s aero-theme restaurant located in the same vicinity of the old Santa Ana Drag Strip near Redhill Ave, next to the John Wayne Santa Ana Airport. (it is no longer in the OC.) After spending time there, we met again after dinner at the Newport Fashion Island Cinema. I had received permission from the manager for the use of the front driveway and entrance to the huge theater. We completed the photo shoot and at the end, I had experimented with double exposures on my film 35mm camera. When we were all finished, I sent him many complimentary enlargements and color slides as a thanks. Jnaki This is the result. Addendum: After writing up a story and completing the array of photos, action and stills, I submitted them to a magazine. No one had ever posted a double exposure shot in a magazine. The location...top notch... The story was rejected as “…it lacked character and color,” was the reply. No skimpy dressed models, no shiny mag wheels or Jag rear ends, etc… was implied. On the double exposure photo: “the readers would get confused…etc.” That was in their chosen editorial format. So, today, the closest 40’s background, photo op for hot rods in So Cal is located in San Diego, CA, near the Montgomery Airport and there is one in Van Nuys. The odd thing is that two So Cal 40’s aero-theme restaurants are hard to find as they are on the backside of airports and in industrial areas. A 40’s style military vehicle welcomes patrons in Van Nuys.
I don't know who owns this little coupe but every year it's at the OKC Mini-Nats, parked in about the same spot. I always stop by to make sure he hasn't messed it up in the year that has passed since I last saw it. The photo doesn't do it justice, a beautiful and well built car. Wish it was in my garage so I could slobber over it every day.
