I replied to an ad on Craigslist yesterday and received this response this morning along with several pics. I've never heard of this eBay services thing she's referring to and besides that the car was on Craigslist. What do you guys think-scam or legit?

    Hey,

I'm selling it at this price of $30,000 because my husband died 2 months ago (he had a heart attack) and it brings me bad memories and that's the reason I want to sell it a.s.a.p. No damage or hidden defects. It is in immaculate condition, meticulously maintained... I have a clear title, without liens or loans on it, under my name. Me and my son decided to sell the house and we moved to my parents house in Haubstadt, IN trying to start a new life. We need to meet up to my parents place or I can arrange delivery - it will cost the gas money.

I want to use eBay Motors services (5 days of testing prior purchase) for the safety of both of us so if you’re interested in purchasing, please provide me your full name for the bill of sale, your full address and a phone number so I can notify eBay that you're selected as my possible buyer and they will contact you to explain the entire procedure.

I look forward to hear from you!

    Thanks!

P.S. I have attached the pics to the email, the specs are below:

    1948 Buick Super Convertible!

The Buick is in superb condition!

  5. It's less than 108 miles from Louisville to Haubstadt. Take your $$ with you to go look at it and don't buy anything without a good look.

Don't fret it's a scam... or at least a sorry attempt at one.

Sounds like a scam for the reasons listed above. Check to see if the car is listed on Ebay. That is about the only way they will get involved.

I agree with Rocky, jump in your car and see it for yourself, 108 miles you can do it in 2 hours. I will bet that the minute the caller hears that you are coming, she hangs up. If not you get great deal.

If you do decide to go, don't go alone. Take a couple of buddies that walk heavy and keep the money off site, like at a nearby bank, where a safe transaction can occur.

  17. Have them prove it by taking a photo of them standing in front of the car holding a sign that has your name on it.

Don't munitions need to be tested/rotated and for quality control purposes? Drop a bunker buster on their house.

It's posted here....... in front of a car dealership.

Last time I checked......Haubstadt, IN doesn't have palm trees.

We also have 3-4 other cars on Craigslist that showed up in Des Moines in the last two weeks with appears to be similar in the ad text and ( questionably ) lower than the general market price.

SCAM - I would say so - the ad has been running for two weeks in this area.
They haven't been purchased for a reason - SCAM

    Hell..... tell her....
Have her deliver the car to your house with the her title in her name signed over to you and then pay her OR
Only after you have the title transferred into your name - then pay her.

She needs to verify who she is and the car and title - yada yada yada

I'd say scam as it sold for 89K in 2011 There is another yellow one on Ebay now for 79 K.
Ask for a face to face meeting to see the car. You will probably get an answer that says they aren't able to meet people in person though.

Actually, eBay owns Craigslist, they bought them a few years ago. But, I've never heard of a 5 day trial period, and eBay and Craigslist are run as separate companies without any interaction between the two. Yes, it's for sure a scam. They want to lure you in with the thoughts of a free 5 day trial, which will never happen. Ain't much of anything free, and if it is free, most of the time it isn't worth a damn.....

Might be a scam, but Florida has been mentioned. Might be a legit flood car. Not to cast aspersions, but I'd be careful with any vehicle coming out of the zones of recent hurricane activity.
Good luck. Nice looking old car.
