What's going on here? Guy holding a torch?
The interior in flames, what is the pole through the windshield?
    Saw blade in roof?

I'm glad that most of us settle for painted flames...

Just a random photo from back in the day, probably 1959 or 1960. The '34 Ford would have been about 25 years old in 1959, about the same age difference as a 1992 Mustang would be today. I kind of miss drag strips where there are grass and weeds in the pits. I miss dragsters with drag slicks about 8-inches wide, with dog sled style roll bars and steering wheels shaped like dog bones. I miss Moon wheel covers on dragsters, and headers that aim backwards rather than up, and leaf springs in the front, and a tach bolted on the cowl, and the hand operated fuel pump on the dash.

I would not trade my memories of even one day at the drag strip in the 1950's and 1960's for free tickets to every NHRA National Event for the rest of my life...

Headlight final adjustments. Rams lifts under car assure car is level with target measuring units and side contact arms make sure target units are aligned correctly (side to side) to car.

    Hey GK,
Great recollection of the good old days. Those memorable times at Lions Dragstrip in Long Beach will forever be burned into my brain. Watching those old movie films keeps it alive. The early innovations made it all fun and exciting back then.

It was simple, but very functional. Backyard hot rodding at its finest...

The Bluebird cafe is great - good food and friendly staff. Sometimes there is a local beekeeper selling honey out of a Willys pickup right near there. Thanks for picture!

    Boy do I.
My friends dad had a 76 station next door to our grade school and it was standard practice to stop on the way home for those things, we stuck them EVERYWHERE.

I can't ever recall seeing a 58 Olds 2dr. sed. I like it. Thanks Jimmy six for posting.
