I've made it a couple times and my grandson enjoys himself. Always impressed with the guys that let the younger generation sit in their cars.

  5. I could say right where they raced but then I'd just be another a hole from Chelmsford.
It's at the high school in Groveland right on 113 just after you cross the merrimac river leaving Haverhill. About halve an hour from Chelmsford.

Been venturing out and about last few days. Pretty sure I have a couple fouled plugs but, I must say, it drives great.
Today I tested the brakes by hitting the pedal hard. I broke the linkage where it was welded.
A slow, safe return trip home was achieved. WHEW![IMG]

No pic. Arm broke off from the "sleeve" portion of the pedal assembly. I had welded, then re-welded it. A simple case of too much weld-not enough original material. Haha, now I have to re- check all my welds. YAY!

  12. That's what makes me nervous though, as the real problem is that the pedal is forged I think. You have to weld forged metal with a lot of heat- make a small pass to heat it up, and then a huge pass to stick it for sure. Or at least that is what I was told. Makes me want to make sure my e brake works. Haha

I heated the 3/4" pedal shaft red hot, it welded up nice... I had also ground a 1/2" offset into the two shaft ends first....

Took the brake pedal assembly apart and heated it up then slammed some mig welds onto it. Raining here today so no test drive. Folded up some stainless over the plywood floor.[IMG][IMG]I will probably regret using the stainless, going to be "blinded by the light, revved up like a duece another runner in the night. . . ."

  20. Might be slippery too, try some skateboard deck traction tape or stair tread texture paint.

The tree is a cucumber magnolia, quite a specimen if I may say.

Have been fooling around with windshield posts. . . Got a pair of Model T stanchions at the swap meet for $20.00. Cut and welded until they looked cool.[IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG]still need some more work but I think they look ok.

Inside the box, what box... he can't even see the box... go WD57 go...
    .
for hot rodders who are looking out through holes in the box...
try using the front 14" or so of a pair of ford rear wishbones...
you can use the front bolt holes to look like top anchors....
made a pair of '30 roadster upper stations out of them ... worked good.
best part is they are gonna be cheap !
    .
now back to your regularly scheduled post.

  29. Love the angle! Are you going to chop them shorter, or leave them long? You’re height probably needs them long!

A lot of thought went into these before they were chopped up. I made up a windshield frame out of scrap 3/4 tubing . I made it just tall enough for me and the stanchions were made to fit the frame. The set up is somewhere between stock height and the "deluxe".
Besides, now I can brag about making my own windshield!
