I have greatly enjoyed following your trip.
I may be mistaken but in past years when you have done the tour did the hood get sealed at the start of the tour and wasn't to be opened till the end? Or am I thinking of something else?
    Safe travels.

  5. Lockers on the street can be lots of fun. Especially in the rain. Congrats on accomplishing another great run. Thanks for taking us along.

The sealed hood thing is a separate award we can compete for. I did that two years ago. I'm over it

Wing window open a bit while summer driving in the rain... yup, you're driving an old Chevy. I don't see the terry towel to wipe the inside of the windshield, but I bet it's in there. One of the many things our current generation miss out on while driving modern cars.

Yeah we keep a couple towels handy. Lunch in Shamrock. We are in Texas finally.

Added more air to the rear tires and seems to be handling better.

Texas, is almost a rain forest these days, I hope you hit good weather. Make sure you find a little time to sleep.

Looks like you need some Rain-X.
With a GPS you don't need a speedometer. We even use one on our 1/2 mile dirt car to check top straightaway speeds.

Squirrel, my wife and I were just in Shamrock in late June. Can't remember the diner they sent us to in town but it was the best, just a little hole in the wall loaded with locals and good food.

The U-Drop Inn Cafe? Back up a couple of posts and look for the art deco looking building.

The U-Drop is the Conoco station where Squirrel is parked. Elvis was sitting in the corner booth the day we were there. But they sent us downtown{ about 12 houses} to a little place that made excellent chocolate chip cookies.

Yes, Jay is a great guy. We got to spend some time talking a few days. And his daughter was his copilot this year, and she got to drive the car a few times. They were having fun!

We had a little delay this morning. Locked up the room and fired up the car, warmed it up. Put it in gear, pushed the gas and it popped and died. Started it again, and it died. I have all the wiring on the firewall set up so it's easy to work on, so I pulled the pump wire loose and touched it to the battery wire. Spark but no pump sound. I have a spare pump, so we got to install it. Kind of a pain with no drain pan, etc but we got it done without making too big of a mess. We'll be a little late meeting my wife.
