I'm looking for anyone who may have some pictures of any drag cars belonging to the Cam Twisters car club from Joplin, Missouri. They ran a rail and a couple other cars. My dad was part of this club in the early 60's. Any info or pictures...let me know.
Would you happen to know where I could find a Cam Twister Club Plaque for Joplin? I had a good friend, Evan Schulser, who was very active in the club. He has since passed away.
Wow, look at the date on the original post?! (original =OG for you young illiterate types) How did this cool thread slip through the cracks? For a couple years?
As a 17 year old in 1961, I pinstriped at the Cam Twisters car show. It was held in the service area of a old car dealership. I came down from KC with Ray Farhner, whose Eclipse was the show feature car.
Dad said there were two different dealerships there in Joplin they used to have shows at. One was R and S Chevrolet and the other was Dan Stanley Ford. He was there at that particular show you described.
i'll try to ask around with some of the old timers i know that have been in the area for a long time. shoot me pm reminder in a few if you can.
Sorry to learn that Evan is gone. Evan rebuild a '57 Olds J-2 for me. I have a Camtwisters car plaque but, I'm gonna be hanging on to it. Sorry
Bringing up a old thread. Have some pics of my dads old rides laying around. Bob Hill, a charter member who was around at the birth of the ole joplin CamTwisters. Dad passed back in 2015, but passed his hotrod days over to me. Think ive got pics of a old tbird, a buds alfa, a stingray, and some others. Pops held on to allot. Cant recal of a plaque, as dad had allot, and allot. Was lost after he passed. Mentioned him, his brother Richard, and the guys running to Kansas to race.
Years ago my uncle worked for a guy that was in the club. He had a couple jackets recreated, one for his boss Mack Weston, and one for himself. He found the jacket in his closet a couple years ago and passed it on to me.
