I always say "It's not for sale." then someone comes along with the right amount of cash and..........it's gone! :)

  7. Yes, I do. If you look in the classifieds, it's not there.

  8. I have about a half dozen that aren't. A couple have been in the immediate family for many years, a few have been promised to my kids, and one was purchased to "replace" one that my dad had and let go of when he was young.

I had a gentleman ask me one day what it would take to buy a certain Cadillac I have, politely told him I was too attached to it to sell it, to which he replied "So what would it take to unattach you from it?" My reply was "Well let me put it to you like this...I've been married twice and divorced twice but that car is still right here." His reply to me, "That car isn't for sale."

I'm 58 years old and have had a couple of my cars for more than 40 years. I guess they are not for sale.

Yes, most of them. I only buy a car if I really really want it. Then it is really really hard to part.
    Stories:
My 48 Plymouth convert. I got this car when I was 17, after a long search. Me and the car bonded immediately, and I planned to keep it till I'm dead. Years back this lady who saw it in a parking lot was trying to buy it off of me. I said it was not for sale. She said money was nothing to her, she wanted the car, name my price. So I figured if that was the case, I would make sure it was enuff to replace the car with the same thing only better, and have plenty left over. So I shot her a number that was 4 times it's real value. She said "that cars not worth that much!" and walked away. (the picture is me with the car upon high school graduation) 48plymgrad.jpg IMG_4400.JPG

About a 2-1/2 years ago, a broker that I know called me up and said he had a client that wanted my Duesenberg. I told it was keeper, never going to sell. He called me back the next day, and said this guy was serious, name my price. I thought the same thing as the as the 48 plymouth, name a stupid price that would make him go away, or be more than enuff to buy a better one and have lots of $$ to spare. So I said "this is non-binding, but if I did sell it, this is what it would take". He called me back the next day and said the guy was interested. Oh-oh. I ran it past my wife, who is way smarter than me. She said "you worked your whole life to get that car, now you'd sell it? You better think on this" She was right, of course. The money was more than enuff, but I just couldn't give up the car.

  15. I don't have anything that's not for sale. It's just a matter of negotiating the price.

This is the one! ...my first car. I have had it since 1958-59, and my father bought it new in October 1929. I just finished rebuilding it a year ago in August. Still a four banger and still Andalusite Blue. ...but many, many other modifications.

My 36, was a fire truck at an airport, I turned it to a pickup, twenty years ago. Haven't changed a thing, it'll go to my daughter one day. DSC05365.JPG DSC05898.JPG

  20. Yeah, I got a ot muscle car convertible. It was a basket case when I bought it and replaced just about all the sheetmetal. I got too much time in it and somewhat rare car to let it go. I'll probably have me buried with it when I go.

At a car show last month a young guy asked me if I'd sell this. I gave him a number was on the high end of realistic. He countered with a number on low end of realistic. Had the cash with him, he said. We negotiated back and forth for an hour, and when I finally caved in and accepted his offer, he back pedaled so fast his head was spinning. I guess it's not for sale. ;-)

  22. My first car (primer red, 1931 Dodge Brothers business coupe) will not be for sale as long as I am alive. It will go to one of my kids. My second 1931 DB coupe (dark blue with black fenders) will go to my other child unless I get a good trade for something I really want more. 1467489_10201964512253365_1450239591_n.jpg 535697_3435117275644_322487504_n.jpg

I have a '33 Dodge 4 door that I have had for 30 years that I would not sell for anything. This '32 pickup, however, could be gone in a minute.

  30. YES, I have cars that I could {Never sell}! I also pick ones up that I have no history with, their just a fling, and I would have no problem selling them. But I could not sell my {68 Vette} that I had in high school, and I took it on our honeymoon. I could not sell my {67 Pontiac Bonneville convertible}that my dad bought new, and I took it to get my driver's license in at 16. I could not sell my { 34 Dodge Sedan Delivery } that I watched as a kid, run around our town , and I made it my life's goal to own and build. Then there's our {56 Nomad} it's just a daily driver to take the grand kids, on road trips in. I've only owned it since 1999. But most of all, I could never sell my little 29 coupe! I paid $100. for her 40 years ago. 314.jpg 1284.jpg My Mom and me at 16 years old. 336.jpg That little coupe, and I have been through so much together. She is part of the family, and you can't sell family! ha. ha. Ron... 803.jpg 1249.jpg
