And here's that video of her first first fire in at least half a century...

Sorry it wasn't longer, but it was just what gas I could get in the carbs. Once we get the fuel pump working and the cooling system hooked back up, it'll be break-in time.

Rainier I have been following the thread and may have missed it but is this a repair area? I have seen some pretty serious repairs done to vintage blocks here at the Hamb as like everything it depends on certain criteria.

Your quite a mechanical genious...definately appreciate the period attention being given to this survivor... looking forward to the rest of the journey.

That full fendered blue strip A is understandable for study.

All the best in this Holiday Season to you and your family...

Thanks for the kind words everyone, even if I have neglected this thread for a while. Things have been pretty hectic, but I'll try to do an update on how the coupster is doing when I'm on my computer with the pictures on it.

@Stogy yes that bellhousing area is repaired (I think it was done twice on this block). Looks like the clutch came apart which was fairly common for these motors if you get aggressive.

While many today wouldn't touch a block with damage like that, I think it was deemed acceptable, if not common, way back when. This is not the first racecar block that I have seen with similar repair work. Makes sense; if you poured a bunch of time and money into the machine work, porting, polishing, relieving, and more, why would you throw all that away just because the bellhousing has a hole blown in it? I think there were more folks experienced and comfortable working with cast iron then too...
