I have used drum retainers, maybe made by Mr. Roadster. They are kind of channel shaped, one side bolts where the wheel cylinder bolts, and it straddles the drum in case you have more excitement than you need.

  4. Pete, why don't you change to a more traditional running gear, 350/350 9 inch?:D

ROBERT, GO TO YOUR ROOM!!!! BLASPHEMY!! TO THE DUNKING STOOL WITH HIM ( or better still, get him a room at the Aruba!!)

Fun weekend for sure, Mr. Pete; I almost didn't go being elderly and all, but hanging with you young Bucks was a blast!
Glad you didn't bust up your car too bad and can't wait to see it after the re-do.

My man flathead Tommy dug thru his parts trailer and hooked me up with some good '34 rear end parts. Hopefully in a week or so I can the car off the jackstands and driving again.

Yea, they're pretty good rear ends but once you weld the spiders you increase the chances of twisting an axle.

That goes pretty much for any stock rear end when one comes off either wet pavement or loose sand/dirt onto a hard surface like cement or asphalt. I was just letting you know that I don't need to see inside any further as I had asked a few replies back.

  12. I think you'd get more exposure posting this in the Wanted section of the classifieds, instead of within Pete's build thread... o_O:confused:o_O

IMG_1837.JPG A HUGE thank you to BIG DUECE for digging thru his collection of parts and hooking me up with the spider gears I needed.

Spent the morning putting the rear back together.

The 5W looks great. Congrats on saving a car that very few could( or would)be able to do. Nice job.

Classic shot to hang in the garage! Reminds me of an old song, "Who loves short shorts?"
and with a '32 coupe to boot!
