    Hello,

Carl Swift’s 51 Ford Flathead motor had its winning ways displayed at the June Lions Dragstrip Museum event. The old drag racing crowd walking by the display, fondly remembered the Ford consistently winning at the local dragstrips. His Flathead powered Ford was well constructed and built to win. It was very innovative...

My freshly rebuilt DSC02766.JPG DSC02767.JPG DSC02773.JPG DSC02774.JPG DSC02778.JPG '55 Olds 324, dressed up to look like a '57 371. I Used a 371 dist., valley pan, gen., brkts, valve covers, etc. Just a nice clean look, I thought.

There are a lot of really drop-dead gorgeous engines in this thread.

However, this one by Helmuth Brothers in response #998 really speaks to me. I believe it's the whole package:
    • The nice contrast between the painted engine and bare aluminum parts
    • The satin pulley and black generator that don't detract from the whole
    • The limited but tasteful use of chrome
    • The oil filler/breather painted to match the bare aluminum which blends rather than detracts
    • The colors working well with the shiny black body
    • The radiator hoses that look like they were designed specifically for this car and the hose clamps that fit the build style
    • The cleanliness; that is, the plug wires almost disappear, there are no sending unit wires showing, the fuel line looking like it belongs instead of an afterthought
    • The fact that the photography is really clean with very little in the way of distractions in the background (or foreground) and the sharp focus of the photo
    • etc.
It just adds up to a very nice unit. Hats off to the designer/builder/owner. Well done, my friend.

It deserves more than a thumbnail: [IMG]

Thank you so much! I really appreciate that! All the hard work pays off when it gets recognized by my peers. Especially to this extent. This photo was just off of my iPhone, but I DO plan on giving the car a proper photoshoot next spring after the interior is finished, so keep an eye out for that. Note - the car is actually brown : ) making the orange compliment the body color even more. Its a big piece of candy corn lol. Thanks again!

Lookin' forward to the photo shoot.

And, b-t-w; the Sandlot photo is priceless. I smile every time I see your avatar and remember the scene that it comes from.

OK; back to the eye candy pix of engines.

'55 331, isky, dual quads, electronic ign. Lokar linkage, electric fan, Speedway fuel line (I think), hand polished wiend manifold, and a bitch to fit hose(s). HEMI 1.jpg HEMI 5.jpg

and the Factory dual quad (1 of 169 in '66) on my 425 nailhead I did back in 1990, now living in some elses garage. Ran those double filter air cleaners B & M made in that time with the filters to each side. RIVIERA 1.jpg
