for years if I needed wheel outer shells {rims} I got them from marsh racing tire . now they are gone and I need a new source for wheel parts can any body suggest where to look?
Pretty sure Speedway or SoCal sells them, one of the two for sure. There's also a HAMB vendor or two that does it, maybe Stockton Wheel? Edit: Ya...Speedway http://www.speedwaymotors.com/shop/bart-wheel-shells~8206-1510-17-601-18010
thanks for the input speedway told me to try bart but didn't know about socaland didn't think stocton was still around, 4" shells are not real easy to find.
Someone did take Stockton wheel over. their website doesn't say anything about bare hoops but it would be worth checking with them. http://www.stocktonwheel.com/index.html From the looks of things they may have downsized the operation from what it was in the past when they made wheels for anything and everything.
contact Lake City Racing in Chi Town. I have gotten all sort of things that were unobtainium from them before.
I bought some 8" bare rims from Wheelsmith 10 years ago or so. They were in Santa Ana at that time but now in Corona.
Hey Machinery Company, Inc. 1602 High St. Baldwin City, KS 66006 http://www.heywheel.com/page11.html Their website says that all rims are for non-highway use only.
gosh guys thanks loads I am checking all the sources you folks have given me and some still make the wide stuff but the 4 &5 in stuff may be a little more of a challenge. but gee you guys are great just to take a second to try to help this will be the first rod that I have built in a long time because of the snobbery and if you aren't following the latest fad your not good enough attitude of some" street rodders" on here you guys are real and inspired me to finally build the car I dreamed of owing in the early 1950's my never ending thanks.
