The color is Mayan Gold Metallic. It's single stage, but they sprayed 5 coats and then topped it with 5 coats of clear. Should really pop when it's color sanded and buffed.

 

Since 2009, George Poteet and his team have taken the HOT ROD trophy for the fastest single flying mile of Speed Week.

The first five of those wins were in the (orange) Poteet & Main Speed Demon streamliner.

After a crash in 2014, an all-new (GOLD) Speed Demon streamliner was built ... and at Speed Week in 2016, the team captured their sixth HOT ROD trophy:

This morning (Saturday 8/12/2017) the car ran an exit speed of 431.512 MPH (so far the fastest car at Speed Week 2017... but I'm sure Danny Thompson will have something to say about that!):

UPDATE: On Sunday 8/13/2017, George Poteet in his (GOLD) Speed Demon streamliner bumped the "A" engine class (440ci thru 500ci) - Blown Fuel Streamliner (A/BFS) record up to 423.521 MPH (NOTE: Former A/BFS record was 409.986 MPH set in 1991 by Al Teague in his Speed-O-Motive 'liner):

NOTE: Saturday's 418.168 MPH (in the 5th Mile) and Sunday's 428.874 MPH (in that same measured mile) calculates to a two-way average of 423.521 MPH!

 

Dean Jeffries painted his 356 Carrera in metallic gold shortly before he sold it in 1962.

 

Omaha had an iconic "Golden Rod" a 33/34 mail slot chop drag car in the late 50's early 60's. It had polished solid copper sheeting in the grill shell and was one of the most stunning cars I have ever witnessed. All words and no pictures are sad I know. Just the one I remember as "The Golden Rod"

 

Omaha builder Gary Anderson, hotrod roadster on here, built a 32 tudor sedan in gold finish that was also an award winner all the way. Again all blab and no images, but had to put the creds out there anyway.
