This one I had never heard of. There is a reason please excuse this short story to go with the photos.

    1930 Ruxton

The Ruxton went into regular production in June 1930 as a front-wheel drive car, in a successful attempt to lower the vehicle adding to road holding and sleeker looks.

When Ruxton finally went on sale, some models sported Joseph Urban color schemes designed to lengthen the appearance of the car through broad bands of white intermixed with vivid colors such as blue, lavender, and navy blue. Many, but not all, Ruxtons featured the Woodlight headlights, which were sleek vertical slits, supposedly to better focus the light, but were largely ineffective. Most Ruxton owners soon learned that they either drove their cars during the daylight, or had them retrofitted with normal headlights or auxiliary driving lights.

Ruxton entered into a deal with Kissel Motors of Hartford, Wisconsin, to build the FWD transmission and drive line. With Moon, who had been contracted to build the cars, failing, Andrews turned to Kissel to also build the cars, and while the project appeared to be on course, Archie Andrews, Ruxton President, grew impatient and started buying Kissel stock in preparation for a take over. Unlike Moon which had tried to fight off Andrews, the Kissel Brothers rebelled by filing for receivership in November 1930, and production of the Ruxton came to an abrupt end less than four months after it was introduced.
Total production was about 500 vehicles.

  19. Cars these days aren't worth the trouble of creating such illustrations. Many cars in the day were work works of art by themselves.
