Hot Rods Flathead head gasket replace in Kansas City?

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by nmpontiac, Aug 11, 2017.

  1. One of my customers is bringing a '49 shoebox back from Chicago to Taos, he's thinking it might have puked the head gaskets - can anyone recommend a shop in KC familiar with 8BA's?

Empire Automotive on southwest boulevard maybe? My friend Jeremy works there, he's a good guy. If they don't, they'll know where to go. 913-384-4515

  3. Thanks, rjones 35, looks like they may be able to help - we were beginning to think it might be a U-Haul rental and bring it here to Taos.
Cadillacoffin, thanks, I forgot they were in MO_ always associated them with SoCal.

Might see if LMC has parts for the 8BA. They sell Ford truck stuff.

  10. The guy driving it back, CJ, sent me a message with pics of new head gaskets that were in the trunk stash that came with the car.
Bludice, I mentioned to CJ that they will need to be re-torqued, maybe Empire can get a couple sessions on them, and I told CJ to pick up a torque wrench to check them every so often.
The big problem we had was the owner was flying out this morning on business and we had three way messages flying around between the three of us.
    Thanks to everyone!

  12. These guys are going out of their way to get the '49 back on the road, and once more the HAMB comes through. What a resource it is to have guys like this all over the country.

Just now seeing this. I also have friends with shops that could handle that but seems like it's under control. Speedway can get stuff to Kansas City in about 12 hours if you order at the right time and most national parts chains have warehouses locally so parts should be easy to get ahold of.

If you guys come up needing something please pm me
