Vintage shots from days gone by!

This old station in Scott's Mills was duded up for a made for TV movie about 10 or so years ago.

 

Just entering the city limits from the South looking North on 99E, the traffic light is on the Hiway heading to Mt Angel. Barney Wantz's Union station is first on the right. Our Chevron station was outside the city limits on the North side of town about 2 miles from here. We were next to the Woodburn Drive-in theater

 

Maggie, I've spent all afternoon thinking about this after I noticed the truck in the middle picture had North Carolina plates. These pictures were evidently movie stills from a made for tv film from 2007

called "Valley of Light" about a veteran returning from WWII. Any way WutNxt beat me to it. Here it is today.

Apparently it is Joan Alwynne with her Austin 7 Special, nicknamed "Blotto".
Perhaps I can see some smoke from the rear offside wheel.

 

Note the "ABC Wide World of Sports" on the fenders - I wonder if these were about to be expended at the Islip, NY Demo Derby championship ABC used to air every year?

First attached photo is of Mauri Rose and his riding mechanic at Oakland in 1932.

The second photo is of the Kurtis Kraft Special with Frank Kurtis at Indianapolis in 1948. Tommy Hinnershitz drove the car to a 9th place finish.

That car and that guy are a PERFECT match!

 

Or perhaps the " World Figure Eight Championship " which was also run at Islip.

 

Hmmm, could it be?

 

Is that one of those neato delivery trikes on tow on the other side of the road? Dealer delivery guy tows the trike to the customers place, drops the car off and rides back on the trike.

Neat 'bird too, with the radio phone like that.
