I raced a B/A at Irwindale, crewed for a number of cars, including the Hawkins & Webster 15oz coupe. Great place to race! The late Don Wilson owned the B/A roadster, I was a week out of Vietnam. This was my welcome back to the world. We set B/A mark at 131 mph with a gas 364" Chrysler. We added some nitro and grenaded it. Wilson and I went on to build "Panic" AA/FA, but I got married and Gary Hazen took over my share. Dave Sorenson driving the Wilson & Sorenson B/A at Irwindale. Courtesy of Dave Sorenson

Looks more like the Pond to me and the car is the original (prior to 1969) straight axle version of Don Green's Rat Trap with George Hutchesson (the Stone Age Man) at the wheel.

I just did a bit of follow up research and the above is confirmed as correct. Read about it here: http://wediditforlove.com/Taming.html

Wayne's car was not a gasser as indicated by the B/A designation on the rear fender and reinforced by the engine setback which is way more than the 10% allowed in the Gas classes.

It was a pleasure to meet you at Meltdown, I raced many dragsters both front and rear engine gas dragsters and really like the cars you have done , we would have a dragster instead of the altered except out current garage is too short for a dragster...lol

Great, except for the fact that they always ran the car as a gasser. Unlike the early day of the Anglias the Austin was always gasser legal as it had a 92" wheelbase. The AA on the window in the photos is for AA/G as opposed to the earlier A/GS designation for the class. Instead of having an "S" suffix to designate supercharged cars the NHRA went to the double letter prefix ( AA, BB etc). In a couple of the photos you can see the old A/GS on the rear side window.

Can't tell you anything about the car but the photo is from Beeline Dragway in Arizona and most likely dates from the late 60's. Berge Ford is still in business and is in Mesa AZ.

"The Bandido" altered was not raced for very long but it was a beauty. The Bill Finnacle Bandido Bantam was originally the Beebe Bros and Sixt car."

loudbang, you had a little more information on this one when you posted it previously.

    Another one from last year,
"The Beaver Hunter II fuel altered of Nolan Pritchard and was raced by various drivers into the early seventies. Pritchard had been a partner in the original Beaver Hunter until the partnership split. Nolan built the new car placing Dale Young at the wheel of the yellow altered. Pritchard joined the Leon Fitzgerald’s US Fuel Altered tour. Harry Harrison replaced Young at the wheel. Harrison was known as a heavy footed driver with a never lift reputation that suited the Beaver Hunter II just fine. Other Beaver Hunter drivers included John Force, Henry Harrison, Dale Young, Don Hicks, Tom Oliviras, and Stan Lucas. John Force’s ride ended in a crash on the fire up road! (L&M Photo courtesy of Bob Plumer; information from Rod Hynes and Draglist files) "

Interesting 'vette, but it gets my vote for the worlds worst flame / scallop job.
