Look closely and you'll see the beginning of the '67 Pontiac rear end treatment - and the door handles for the '69 Grand Prix. Can't imagine how they expected to hinge those suicide rear doors! o_O
It's fun to look at all these GM mockups and pick out the design features that were used in later years - sometimes on different makes from where they were intended.

    .
Seems to be a big pool of ideas - and only jesus - and a few board members - knows wich one at the end was used where, when and why in production.
But undoubtably you can see the developement of design as a longer and complex process.
    Not like hot rodding ...

Chrisbcritter - You are right. Here's a familiar one, with another in the background that I'm sure someone here knows some details about.

  15. I might be mistaken, but I think the vehicle in the background is the F-88 concept.

My first introduction to car racing was at Freeport Stadium. Dad took us here many times. Usually stock cars but many times with midgets.

Steffen, I think I like that better than the finished product. My dad bought a '66 2+2 brand new and it was always one of my favorites. I wish I could find a good survivor now.

Yes, I thought this also. The rear quarter reminds me of the Camaro. Always interesting to see these concepts.
