Hey guys I just picked up a 1955 331 Cadillac engine. I have everything to mount a 37 Lasalle to a 54 and earlier extended bellhousing block. But is it possible to mount one up to a 55 modern style block engine? Did they ever make an adapter? Help most appreciated!

I've got a bellhousing that will put a CadLasalle behind a flathead Ford, so the same should bolt up to your short bellhousing there.

It can be done! The one on my old T was a Cragar!. Kevin Gill now owns my old T! You might try Wilcap they have some Cad adaptors.[IMG]

I've seen adaptors bolted to adaptors. But mine is not for sale.

I'm running the stacked Wilcap set up for the early cad to early ford, early ford to the T5, without issues for 10 years. You can surely adapt the lasalle to the adapter you have.

  8. I am running stacked adapters, sort of. Cadd 331 to flathead ford, Truck Hogs head to a T-5 that I built. Anything can be done, just a matter of thinking about the puzzle pieces and picking the right pieces to make it happen.

I have the adapter from 55-62 Cadillac engine to the 49 -54 Cad bell housing, which the Lasalle trans bolts to. I've been running this same adapter in a land speed car for years. I bought this adapter for a spare. Seems like it's an Offenhauser 5018, could be wrong. Guess I'll never use it, so it's for sale.

Good score. I've been looking for a '55 331 for some time with no luck.

Yes I realize this post is 2 years old, but I've kept uneccesary stuff for longer periods than that!
Do you still have it? :) If so I'm interested.

That one is gone, but I have another vintage ad that adapts the 55-62 Cadillac engine directly to the Lasalle transmission.

I know this is a long shot, but would you still have the early to later cad adaptor?
    Thanks, Greg 660-654-1988
