Discussion in 'Traditional Hot Rods' started by rockin rebel, Aug 5, 2017.

  1. hello from Langley, BC., Canada.......I have just purchased a 32 Ford coupe, project.. I need lower cowl, rocker and quarter repair panel...now Howells sheet metal has the parts I need, but they don't seem to want to get back to me..I just read all of their negative feedback on ebay and now wonder is there a better place to buy ?? Drakes, Carpenter ?? I am on a pension so the most expensive is one that I hope I can avoid...thanks for your help.

welcome, how far does the rust run up the sides ?
the cheap patches are flat, with no compound curve...
some vendors sell concourse quality panels that fit further up the body...
the cheap ones will fit but not match the contour of the car sides...
if not much rust 2" or less, the cheapies are ok...
the skins curve in as they drop, the cheapies don't... will take lots of bondo to fill the low spot...
ask the hambers here they will give you the straight dope...

  3. Go with United Pacific parts as they fit great and are made well. A great price also.

    Go with United Pacific.

  6. I checked Speedway and they do not have patch panels, just whole panels, and some of the inner supports,...I can live with my rockers if I have too, but Mac's has the patches I need, but they might be from Howells sheet metal ??

Howells parts tend to me made of really thin and soft material. The shapes are not the best either.

I've used Howells and known others that have. Pretty junkie quality and have been a nightmare to get parts from for some people. I'd look elsewhere

The best thing you could do is listen and get your panels from United Pacific.

If you don't you'll be disappointed.

  11. 325w and blue one, I did...United, through Speedway does NOT sell patch panel, only whole panels..unless you can find United patch panels somewhere else ???? I did not find any in Speedway

Maybe United doesn't sell patch panels.
    Too bad if they don't.

Rockin Rebel, hi from New Westminster. Run over to The Old Car Centre, it's near the Colossus theatre. I got a pair of lower cowl patches from them as a gift. They seem fine though I may have to contour them a tad. You may find that hey can set you up with th either material you need.. I have a five window as well.

Any pictures of your project? Everyone here likes to see what's getting worked on and 32s are a popular topic. Or as some have said before, "pics or it didn't happen".
