Hot Rods McCulloch mystery supercharger ?

    I could not find any info on this little unit. Anybody know what it is from
    Or ever used one. It's a pretty small roots style , I think.

    [​IMG]i think its an industrial blower it is using a love joy coupling to drive it maybe refrigeration or air ration application ?

    Might be part of a vacuum pump setup, we have a similar one at work made by Rootes.

    It's an industrial vacuum pump used on large oil sumps or storage tanks in turbine generation stations. Worked on many of them. Cast iron and heavy...

    Ok thanks, could it be used as a blower on a small motor ?

    if it pumps air it could be used on an engine.
     
  10. kinda reminds me of this little unit I found somewhere - it looks like it might have used some sort of clutch unit on the drive. I think it was from some sort of sports car - IMG_0070.JPG IMG_0069.JPG

    After all the comments about it being an industrial type blower, and it certainly has that appearance, I still find it interesting that it has a "Supercharger, manufactured by McCulloch" tag riveted on. It may have been an early effort to use an existing design cast iron industrial blower for automotive performance use. Despite the weight, there's no reason it wouldn't work to some degree. As birdman says, if it pumps air it could be used on an engine.
