Hot Rods A 283 in a original 34 Chassis, no problem?

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by flatordead, Aug 2, 2017.

  1. I tried to hook a 283 to a original Ford 3spd. via adapter (offy). But it seems the engine ist too far up front. Trans is in original location, short water pump, double pulley with no balancer. Any clue on this?

  2. Ok buddys, got it. Wrong drive/torque tube shaft.

  3. There were two different lengths torque tubes in 1934, one for the 4 cylinder and one for the V8. Are you sure you have the right one? Sorry I can't be more specific, try fordbarn.

  4. Indeed, the wrong (too long drive shaft/torque tube of a 4 cylinder). Gonna have it cut to right lenght and will flip the original rear mount.
