Now I want to go back a couple days and clear up something that I observed/did. A lot of guys modify the door to fit the door jam but since I've already chopped my door jam up why cut up a good door so I took the door latch off the post and shimmed it to see if I could get it to catch the door and SUCCESS 3 washers did just the trick so now I know I can modify the post slightly to make it work with the two door doors! Here's pictures of what I have [IMG][IMG]

Great info on the 4 door post door latch to 2 door sedan alignment. I think it'll be easier and cleaner to modify the post than to slice up the doors and weld in the 4 door sedan jamb pieces.

....any tips on how you got such a clean folded over lookin edge where you cut the front off the rear door?
looks good in the pics anyway.

At that rate I'd just mill out a spacer to fit between the latch and the jamb and call it done. Nobody will notice that, if they do they're looking too close.

Can you guys explain what is involved in making the rear quarter window opening look like a two-door when you remove that rear post from the four-door?

Once you remove the small post it takes some fab work to blend the body line but it's exactly the same I was even able to fit the glass perfectly!

[IMG][IMG][IMG] so I have been thinking about my door jam and the opening where the door meets the post and how number one to fill the hole and how number two how to strengthen the body and make the right curve to match the door!!so I saw a part of sheet metal in the danchuck magazine and I realized that the piece I needed was in the front of the rear door!! After I skinned it I had a nice solid piece with the proper crown to fill this hole! Here are pics of the piece I plan to use

I thought trying to make a 2 door out of a 4 door would look a little goofy, I am very impressed. VERY COOL. GREAT JOB.

I'm going to start on the driver side now I'm finding that I'm getting down to a lot of detail work on the passenger side if you've ever done one of these conversions it actually goes really quick so I'm going to do the driver side get all the major fabrication done and do all of the little detail stuff alongside of the bodywork. I'll post more pictures as soon as I can!

I can't believe some of the work that happens on this site by people far more talented than myself. I've seen threads on this conversion a couple of times and it's amazing!

I am curious, though. Could a small rear door be created like the Chevy trucks from late 90's-early 2000's? Use the full length 2dr sedan doors, then a shortie door, maybe 12-14" in length? No. it wouldn't be original appearing, but possibly a neat feature.

It is literally part of the car with reinforcement behind it's not supporting anything it's not holding anything I just use a cutting disc and I cut it straight off flush with the body lines

Thanks for the tip on using the four door latch with a shim. It would have saved me a lot of time. Thanks again

I'd Leave it alone, but then again I am a 4 Door Kinda guy anyway. There are a metric f*&k ton of 2 Door 55-57 Chevy's on the road. Not many 4 Door's that are built We are doing a 57 4 Door for a customer right now and have done 2 55 4 Doors I love them all. Soo much more room for activities.
