I'm going next year, I say every year. Wonder if Hooley is running. I've heard here is camping at bend in road, but it can get rowdy?

Raced Bonneville a couple of times. It is hallowed ground. Everybody should go at least once in their lifetime. Most of the hotels are in casinos and they double the rent for Speed Week. It is simply supply and demand. They were all booked up months ago. You can camp at "Bend in the road" just north of I-80. USFRA is not as well attended and you can usually get rooms for that event.

A few years ago a Bonneville page on the HAMB would have been 15 + pages long this close to speed week. I guess now a days like it or not there are a lot more rat rod / honda civic guys instead of hotrodders.

  4. Went to Bonneville in 2002 and again in 2009. Flew out both times, but next year plans are already in the making to drive the 40 out. I did stop by there last month on the way back from the L.A. Roadster show to get some shots of the 40 on the salt though.

Cloudy today at Bonneville. Looks like a little rain. These web cam pictures look like a painting. bflat_cam_current.jpg

Looks promising. A silent HAMB prayer might be in order...

  13. Bummed I am missing this year, been every year since 2003. But just a temporary miss for me, as in middle of moving and the timing just does not work out this year. I'll be heading east instead of north and west.

You all have fun, I will be watching as I can over internet.

Doesn't seem to be much interest in Bonneville on the HAMB anymore. At least a few of us will be there. JC

I was supposed to start heading that way on the 9th but things have come up and things look grim for me being able to go. There is a slim chance I can make it, one can hope.

  16. This is the first time I'm unable to go in over ten years (not counting the couple times it was cancelled of course). I need to connect with a NW HAMB member to pick me up a few Tshirts. My grand kids love getting them and have already asked me. Plus I like em too =)

Been going off and on since 1975. I show up on Monday now after all the wantabes leave with salt still on their rats and rooms are plentiful. I've ruined every truck I've ever had their so now it's rentals for me. I always hope for a dry week and rain all the way home...

For those of you who have not gone before or are saying "maybe next year"...GO. It's that simple. Buy a plane ticket, rent a car. Quit your job if you have to. Literally. Last year was my first time going, and my wife and I are going back this year. After moving last year I was not sure if I would have any vacation to use or not. After a failed attempt to go in 2015 I decided that if I had to quit my new job to go to Speed Week I would. Thankfully it did not come to that, but I would if needed. Here is a travel guide my wife wrote after going last year: http://thexenophilelife.com/bonneville-speed-week-travel-guide/ . If you have have never gone before, or are trying to get your significant other to go, give it a read.

Read the wife's write up a while back & enjoyed it. Myself (a 1st timer) and four others plan on getting there the 11th. Hoping to have a great time!

I first went in 2013 and finally am going back again this year. I'm taking my dad and son with me, because it's something they both need to experience.
