A long shot, but does anyone have some plans or templates for the wood bows for top irons on a 32? I have chased some for a while and notice all the Model T clubs have them but nothing for Model As or Model Bs etc.

Posting dimensions on here would help I'm sure more than me. Maybe I can get the steam bender here to do a tech to add to this thread?

I am well versed in the differences, hence the etc. but thanks for clearing that up for those who may be unsure.

Someone out there must have some
    Bows they can measure/trace?

  4. I got mine from LeBaron Bonney and then modified them for a better profile, and they also fold. 32 @ Swindlers.jpg

Unfortunately the Australian Border Force claim I cant bring them in as they are unfinished wood products.

    Hence the request for templates/plans.

Another reason leaving and moving back to the U.S. one day soon

Would five minutes with a rattle can of clear solve that problem? Bob

I reckon it would. I might investigate a mate spraying them clear and re-shipping them on.

Would still be good to have some plans/measurements for everyone's future reference

I assume you have the top irons and need the bows. I can post photos and you could make your own from the photos. Most need reshaped if building a Hot Rod. Just a thought!

Wouldn't even hurt them to have a nice golden oak stain wiped on them and then the clear.

For sure then I think you could slip them past the paranoid authorities :D

Find someone to trace them on MDF board, cut in 2 and ship to you.

  12. I wonder if the manufacturer would brush a coat of clear on them if you asked?

  13. As a left field thought, have you contacted the EFV8 club in Victoria where you live? A member there may have a car you can take patterns off, if someone hasn't already done that?

I intend to ask at the Flathead Festival this Sunday.

With regards to your idea Deuce Lover, I was hoping someone might trace some onto some brown paint masking paper or similar. That would be easiest and cheapest to ship and then I can work off that without any customs issues.

I think the staining or clearing by the manufacturer is a real option if they will do it.

Failing that, If I attach the top irons, I thought maybe I can clamp some MDF across between the irons and trace the shape needed. That would at least give me a starting point.

  18. That's a very cool roadster. How much is the windshield chopped, 2 inches? The upper stanchions seem to be leaned back a bit. Did you modify the irons or just the bows?
I am working on a top my roadster and just want to do it right ;-) upload_2023-12-7_14-25-44.png
    Thanks
