Art & Inspiration The History Of The H.A.M.B. Logo

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Ryan, Jul 23, 2017.

  1. I think I know how Ryan feels
handed a door mirror assembly to a student, told him to sand it with a red scuff pad
he came back 10 minutes later with the prettiest sanded mirror lens you ever seen
he didn't sand the body of it though.

I like the current one. All the others are too "busy" . To hard to read. The current one has crisp lettering. Clean and simple

Let's see.... Marvel Mystery Oil logo. Everyone recognizes that. Same with the H.A.M.B logo. Learn from MMO.... Don't mess with a good thing.

  5. This thread is comical. One has to wonder if no one can comprehend your post @Ryan or if it's just mob mentality and everyone reads all the other the responses and they forget what the original post was.:D

Hi. Personally I much prefer the logo just as it is right now.
Change just for the sake of change is always a big mistake as it just throws away the history.
I really do not like any of the new ones you posted so I will not say which I like best other that what we already have.
My thoughts & I'm sticking to it.

Based in Texas, right? Gotta have at least one star on it. As mgtstump said, don't mess with a trademark...

Just a little angle on the font. The designer Dan is quite the Artist and I am sure he knows what floats around here and Ryan has a good eye. I was looking at pics from past web searching and noticed this pic which would give credence to period correctness of the chosen font for these logo proposals. That said I still like the current original.

Ryan, you trying to stir things up? Makes no difference to me if you change it, so long as you don't change the name.

Tim, Ryan also mentioned freshening up and that = change so passion for what is...is understandable.
I'm pretty sure the boss is not surprised either by the critiques expressed.
Yes the graphics presented were former submissions but could be gleaned from or reconsidered. I support Ryans decision in this as he molds the platform we have come to enjoy...;)

I find your holier than thou ranting.......baffling too! Just what does freshening up the logo suggest to you? Change, no matter how little or a lot makes no difference IMHO it still is change!

I am not exactly sure why everyone is getting their panties in a wad no matter which side of the debate you are on.

The boss did in fact open his blog post with this statement: So I’ve been giving some thought lately to freshening up the H.A.M.B. logo a bit.
From reading that it sounds like the HAMB logo might changing. Easy to understand.

When I read the original blog post I did indeed see where Ryan said these were concepts from years ago and didn't make the cut. Again...easy to understand.

So I guess what I'm saying is that everybody needs to calm the hell down and go have a coke and a friggin' smile. Life is too damn short to worry about crap like this.

Now...back to our regularly scheduled programming...

I'm just confused about how long ago 2012 was. 15, 12, or 5 years?

Never change a running system, that's what I usually say when someone is asking me about my opinion on changing a well worn in habit. To me the old HAMB logo is perfect and I wouldn't see the need to change it, but I also painted my hot rod gold although everyone told me to leave it yellow... Sometimes you just gotta so it...
