Wow, that's shocking news about Steve McGee. I hate to hear that. So many awesome cars through the years.

  15. ^^^^^ first pic with the wheels up is Virgil Cates from Dayton, Ohio before the paint job it wears today. He would take the fiberglass front end off put on the chrome grille shell and run in an Altered class

Are you sure it is a SBC? The stacks are not paired and the B/G designation would seem to suggest big block.

LB your post #2114 with Jack Merkel and the Airoso Bros blue willys coupe next to each other is prophetic. Who knew that some 50 years later they would be next to each other in Ron Normans garage along with Jack's 39 Willys and the Connecticut "Bee Line" 41 Willys.

Just a little update on the Fitting's car. We made a few changes after almost loosing the car at the top end last April 2016 and didn't race again until this April. We closed off the front and added cutouts to the rear of the front fenders. Added a dam in the rear and balanced the car with no pre-load. In April we ran a best of 9.92/124 lifting at 1000'.
Sent the 1050 across the states and had Mark Whitener convert it to Methanol. Got it back and My son ran his licence passes during the June 16th races at Sacramento. The car ran a best 9.75/128 lifting again at 1000' with a 6.12 1/8th at 110. Having his runs in we had to run eliminations in Hot Rod and could not dial under 10.00 without a licence. We dialed at 10.25 and we were going to lift at the 1/8th and coast. Well the dam car ran it's best 60' and 1/8 at 6.04 and 112. coasted to a 10.16 at 98 and lost because of the break out. That would have been a 9.50 run for sure. The car is now a blast to drive without having to steer the crap out of it on top. The faster it goes the better it feels. More fun to come!!.
