Art & Inspiration Vintage emblems & script showing their age

  1. Thanks Dean for the kind words. Greg was quite an artist and a great person to boot. A quadreplegic since the 1970's he never let that detract him from his art. One of the things he did was to hold an art show and auction every year with all the proceeds going to buy art supplies for kids that couldn't afford them in his hometown of Metamora Illinois.
We met at a car show many years ago and my buddy Shane Syx and I striped his wheelchair for him. From time to time he would send me these crazy resin cast cars he designed and built to be detailed and I would always have fun doing them. I think I posted some pictures of his cars on here(I know I did on Facebook) but if nobody minds I'll post a couple of them.
He also had a great street rod that his brother and a couple others built for him. A 37 Ford flatback sedan that had a Taurus SHO motor and trans installed so they could build a flat floor to allow him to drive his wheelchair into the car. Don't know how much he drove it as he was pretty much confined to the house for quite awhile prior to his passing.
    Anyway here are a few pics of some of his creations.These were all one off creations. DePauwKetRocket2016 001.jpg DePauwKetRocket2016 003.jpg GregsCar010.JPG GregsCar5.JPG GregsOrangeCar4.JPG PeaceHawk4.JPG SlimeCar001.JPG SlimeCar002.JPG SlimeCar003.JPG SlimeCar011.JPG

Yeah, I know, the front sail is missing. But after 83 years, my front sail would probably be gone as well.

    REAL PATINA...

    Hey HRP,
The emblem and total front end is a little tarnished from use and misuse over the years. But, for historic purposes, it is still intact. It used to go on the front end of this famous, historic, Willys that most of us will know and identify.

image.jpg Here's one I cut off the side of a 1957 GMC 860 cabover semi a few years back . It has a 1/4 " of lead under it . The cab was in bad shape . It depicts the truck driver in a cowboy hat shocking the station attendant with a electric cattle prod. A lot of cattle trucks went through that area and still do hauling cattle to Dodge City feed lots.

Cadillac hubcap medallion. I bought two at a barn sale (an actual barn) about 40 years ago for $1 each. Sold one to a Cadillac guy for $35 shortly thereafter. This remaining one hangs over my bench. Yes, it's for sale but the price has gone up in the years since then.

My 35 Chebby, all original ID tags. Only 647 x RHD phaetons were produced by GM Holden's (Australia). Fisher (USA) outsourced phaetons and roadsters to Hercules Campbell (?) and only produced 210 x phaetons, LHD & RHD. Closed cars and the Cabriolet body styles were produced by Fisher Body.
